What Is Autism?

Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD is a developmental disability that can lead to social, communication, behavioral, and learning difficulties. However, everyone with autism is different as the condition varies from person to person.  The severity of autism can range from someone who is extremely gifted to someone who is extremely challenged. Because of this, there are several individuals with autism who need significant support and help in their daily lives. ASD is present in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, however, it is 4 times more common among boys than girls. While there is currently no treatment for autism, many studies show that early learning and therapy can help children with autism. It is extremely important that individuals with Autism can receive these services as they can help teach them important life skills.
